Honest Roofing Contractor
This is based on personal experience after the 2025 Eaton Fire that destroyed 6,000 homes in Altadena.
My home had wind damage and our backyard fence burned, plus part of our front yard but our house survived intact.
However, like many homes it was coated in soot and ash and was bathed in smoke for several days.

The insurance company sent a vendor to inspect the interior. We were told to remove and replace our attic insulation. The vendor quoted $12,000. An HVAC company said they’d charge us $8,900.
I called Thomas and he said he’d do the blown-in insulation for $ 8,000.
He sent his team with the machine to remove and blow in insulation but they arrived, looked in the attic, and called Thomas.
He called me and gave me shocking news: you don’t need to remove and replace your insulation.
“My guys sent me photos from in the attic and said you have the best insulation on the market. It’s white, cottony, and it’s about 24 inches deep. You know me, I care about indoor air quality and if I had a newborn baby living in the house or an elderly mother with breathing problems, I wouldn’t have it done.”
He explained that any dust in the attic will blow out through the vents. He also said that the ceiling separates the attic and interior and there’s no way for it to go through.
“But,” I said, “the vendor said if we don’t have it done then we might smell smoke in about six months.”
“Not true,” said Thomas and he was right.
I gave him a small fee for the guys bringing out the machine and inspecting the attic.
He could have charged $7,000 and I would have thought I was getting a great deal, but instead he didn’t charge me for work that I didn’t need to have done.
