What type of roof is best for the San Gabriel Valley?
If you want a metal roof for your home, ask Thomas Garvey if it’s the best choice for your home. Your location can matter and affect the best roofing materials for your home or commercial building.
Thomas likes metal roofs because they’re lightweight.
His team knows how to soundproof them to deaden the sound of rain and how to install the metal panels so the sun’s UV rays are repelled instead of absorbed into the house.
But this roof isn’t for every location.
If you live in parts of Monrovia, Arcadia, Pasadena, or Altadena a metal roof may serve you well.
In other cities like Alhambra or Temple City, you may be better off with specific types of tile roofs or multi-dimensional asphalt shingles.
Thomas will let you know the best roofing materials for your home in the San Gabriel area.
Roofs for All Seasons
Garvey Roofing installs and repairs roofs for all seasons. Summer’s heat weakens the seams of older roofs, degrades the materials, and makes roofs vulnerable to leaks from winter rains.
Thomas knows the best underlayment and other roofing materials to repel the sun’s most powerful UV rays. He and his team are also skilled at installing a complete roofing system that includes proper ventilation and attic insulation to prevent heat transferring from the roof’s surface and into the home.
For apartments and other commercial buildings, Thomas knows how to roof with interior drains to prevent leaking.

Here’s a true story.
My wife and I evacuated after the Eaton Fire and we were out of our home for five months. During the restoration period, vendors who work with our insurance company said we had to have our attic insulation removed and replaced.
The total cost was projected at $ 12,000. Our house is 2,300 square feet and several hundred square feet is a low slope roof.
We had other quotes for $ 8,900 to $ 10,000.
I called Thomas and he said he could remove and replace the insulation for about $ 8,000.
He sent his crew with their machine for blowing in the new Certainteed insulation. I watched them look into my attic, go up on the roof, and go into the house.
They were hesitating and then they called Thomas who called me and told me that my insulation is fine and I don’t need it removed and replaced.
“My guys looked in your attic and you already have the best insulation on the market. It looks a bit dusty but most of it is still white and cottony. Don’t touch it.”
He explained that if the insulation was old and compressed then that would be different. But we had it installed in 2018 and he said it still looked new.
Thomas also explained how any dust and dirt in the attic would eventually blow away and that the air quality in my house would be fine.
“If I had a newborn infant, or a mother-in-law with respiratory problems I wouldn’t change it.”
I told him that one of the vendors said if we don’t change it then we might smell smoke several months later.
“No way,” Thomas replied politely. “That’s not going to happen.”
He and his team saved me several thousand dollars.
“I could have charged you $ 7,000 and you would have thought you’re getting a great deal but that would have been just taking your money and I’d never do that.”
